The music of Cuba is best known now for the Buena Vista Social Club artists post-revolutionary revival of its old and new artist in 1996 when world circuit executive Nick Gold organised a project and production produced by the famous American guitarist Ry Cooder and directed by Juan De Marcos Gonzalez, and a whole ensemble of artists from Cuba in 1996. The success of the album recorded, several major concerts and documentaries brought the great music of Cuba to the forefront.The original Buena Vista (Good View) Social Club goes back to 1932 in Havana and some of its great original artists lived to see the 1990s revival, such as Benny More, Celia Cruz, Compay Segundo, Omara Portuondo, Ibrahim Ferrer, Ruben Gonzalez to name but a few of these artists prior to the Cuban revolution in 1959, and this 1990s revival. This great value four CD set has been digitally re-mastered and enhanced and features many of the great artists and recordings from Cuba, including: Celia Cruz; Tito Puente; Beny Moré; Neno Gonzalez; Compay Segundo; Orquesta Revé; Omara Portuondo; Raul Diaz and many, many more.
