Those words were written by Dave Barker, in Joe Gibbs studio in Duhaney Park Jamaica in 1970. The hit song Double Barrel stormed through the charts and took Dave and Ansil Collins into modern music history. Double Barrel was named after Dave and Ansel, who, when together, bring a sound as strong as each barrel of a gun. Dave Barker was born in Kingston Jamaica, surrounded by the sound systems that would influence his musical life. As a little boy, when he couldn t be found, his mother would have to go to the local dance hall to find him. Hypnotised by the music, she had to drag him home. From school days and the John Vere talent contests where he first made his mark, to his teenage years collaborating with such greats as Coxone Dodd and Lee Scratch Perry, Dave was destined to a life of music. Over the last thirty years, Dave has played with most of the legendary reggae artists including Sly and Robbie, Duke Reid, Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, Harry J, Tommy Mcook, the Scattalites and Miss Pottinger, to name but a few. His vast list of vocal credits is a testimony to his energy, vision and respect from other artists for his huge vocal quality and talent. This album brings you here in this album some fantastic original sounds and some new ones too.
